FOAM ROLLERS
Foam rollers are primarily used as a self-myofascial release technique as an alternative to massage. In other words, foam rollers are a great tool to loosen and relax tight muscles yourself!
What are the benefits of using a foam roller?
- Decrease muscle tension and pain
- Improve muscle flexibility
- Target particular tight spots that stretching can’t
- Improve joint mobility
- Injury prevention
- Injury rehabilitation
- Spine stretches
- Use your long and short foam roller for Pilates exercises
- Short rollers often fit in your sports bag so are great for warm-ups and cool-downs!
When should I use a foam roller?
Foam rollers are generally safe to use on the muscle of the legs and back. The technique used is usually a slow and controlled repetitive movement, rolling across the length of the muscle with a focus on particularly tight areas. Areas that are red, swollen, bruised, or recently injured should be avoided.
